Aim and Scope

Aim of the Journal

The goal of Narrative Studies Review (NSR) is to publish new, original, peer-reviewed scholarship that enlarges knowledge about the nature of narrative in literature, culture, media, history, language, and society. NSR welcomes scholarship that examines how stories make meaning, sustain memory, construct identity, and affect human experience.

Through its multidisciplinary approach, NSR facilitates new ways of thinking that link traditional narrative theory with innovative areas of research. The journal aims to encourage intellectual discourse that will help develop theories while contributing to the understanding of narratives in today’s society.

Narrative Studies Review is committed to:

  • Publication of top-quality original research in the scholarly community.
  • Promoting the academic discipline of narrative studies through new research.
  • Fostering an interdisciplinary approach to narratives and their study.
  • Stimulating discussion in the field of narrative theories.

  • Being an international forum for researchers and scholars.
  • Observing ethical and reliable standards of publication.
  • Increasing access to quality narrative research worldwide through open-access publication.

Scope of the Journal

Narratives exist in all aspects of human existence. They define literary work, safeguard culture, define politics, direct education, and help people make sense of their own and collective experiences. Narrative Studies Review is always interested in receiving papers that look into this broad range of narratives from either traditional or modern viewpoints.

The journal features articles on the analysis of narratives in writing, oral traditions, visuals, digital media, and multimedia platforms. The publication promotes narrative studies that combine narrative theory with contributions from literature, linguistics, philosophy, cultural studies, media studies, history, psychology, sociology, education, communication, and more.

NSR emphasizes the importance of research that not only examines the narrative content but also its social, cultural, historical, ethical, and political dimensions. No matter whether the research involves analysis of classical works, contemporary novels, memoirs, digital narratives, or any other form of narration, NSR encourages all types of innovative academic research.
